About

About the Artist

Silvija is a visual artist creating works of contemporary landscapes and still life on canvas and in colourful resins. Her mixed media paintings are loose and intuitive, combining a distinct drawing element with imagined colour.

She received ‘Best in Show’ for her painting Spirited. Juror Brian Smith described the work as “…exuberant and fresh… a stunningly rich and emotional work.” Co-juror Kal Honey wrote, “Fresh, loose and assured… an accomplished blend of observational skills and expressive chops.”

Silvija initially studied Visual Arts at York University, switching to later earn a degree in Graphic Arts at the now renamed Toronto Metropolitan University. After a career in graphic arts, she returned to practice fine art full-time. Silvija has exhibited in juried, solo, and group shows. Her work is held in private collections both in North and South America.

Inspiration for Silvija’s work comes from her love of driving adventures around North America. Preferring to travel in a classic car, she finds driving events the perfect way to explore landscapes east and west for inspiration.
